Blackpool's not exactly a place I would choose to visit, but when it's for the National Young Farmers AGM. It's the most amazing place ever. Held every year with Dj nights and competitions, the AGM is the highlight of the farming Calander. This year did not disappoint, once again it was an epic weekend with all my farmer pals. Radio 1 Dj's for the evening included Edith Boweman (who tweeted us), Jameela Jamil, Scott Mills, Chris Stark and Aled Jones. All of which played our requests! (Icona Pop's I Love It from our lip sync video)
Above is the style icon Jameela Jamil, hopefully she'll be wearing my jewellery one day (last time I spoke to her, she informed me she doesn't have pierced ears, so I won't be making any earrings for her!)
If you hadn't already heard, farmers know how to party! The themed evenings were, Black tie, fancy dress as Y, F or C. I opted for calculator (genious, I know) which resulted in a lot of high fives from strangers - a definite sign of a great fancy dress.
This year we decided to enter a choir in the the competitions, which I was in charge of organising. This seemed like a good idea at the time, I thought I could be the next Gareth Malone - easy. Turned out to be a mammoth project. We made it through to the finals and performed to over 1,000 people on stage at the Winter Garderns. Unfortualty we were up against Welsh choirs and sadley didn't stand a chance. But we got some really nice feedback from everyone including a complete stranger saying how amazing they thought we were surprised we didn't win. A kind tweet from the winners, saying we were 'bloody fab and gave a real strong performace' which made my day!
If your interested here is the performance below. Considering no one was a singer or had ever performed in front of an audience I think we did a really great job (even the conductor was a member) you probably can't tell from the video but he was dressed as the Go Compare guy.
We may not have won the choir completion but we did win the Farmers Guardian selfie competition and received £250 of merchandise for the club, just to top off an awesome weekend. I guess we'll just stick to what we're good at!
